About Us
Our Mission Statement:
Revision Editing holds at its core the wish to make applicants better writers, and we earnestly uphold the ethical standards set by the Association of International Graduate Admissions Consultants. Each editing session is an intense private tutorial on writing and rhetorical analysis. The commentaries and advice you receive explain the genre of the personal statement, but they also provide a lesson in powerful writing, a skill transferable to any career. We offer the highest-caliber personal statement editing service available. We have the most training and the most insight into the personal essay genre. We are careful, kind-hearted, and highly experienced.
Our Company:
Revision Editing is a San Francisco Bay Area-based company providing individualized editing of personal statements for graduate and professional school applications. The service-based company operates out of Emerald Hills, California, near Stanford University, and can be found on the web at www.revisionediting.com. Revision Editing is a sole proprietorship owned and managed by Joann Kleinneiur, Ph.D. Founded in February 2009, Revision arose from the collaboration between Ken DeLeon, J.D. and Joann Kleinneiur, Ph.D. on the website Top-Law-Schools.com. What began as a series of articles offering in-depth advice on writing personal essays for law school became a co-authored book on this topic in 2009.
When we coach applicants on their personal statements, we try to help them uncover layers of their backgrounds and talents for the admissions committees. Likewise, our own company name, "Revision," holds within it layers of meaning. Every essay should contain within it a vision--good stories supporting a strong, stylistically interesting argument for why an applicant should be accepted to their school of choice. We sometimes refer to our company as "Vis" because this means "strong" or "powerful" in Latin, and strength and power are the elements we try to cultivate in each personal essay.
